I caught the first ten minutes of a TV show called "The Brain Games." It is meant to mess with your mind; it only gives you pieces of a situation, waiting to the very end to explain what you were missing. For example, the first experiment was easy...or was it? You, the viewer, are looking over the barrel of a cartoon drawn gun and you are supposed to count how many ducks appear on your screen as the gun shoots at its targets. After the 10th shot, I looked at my husband who said 10 when I, at the same time, said zero! There were no ducks I shrieked! He said of course there were- they were all ducks! How could that be? When the show slowed the experiment down to explain it, a close-up of the cartoon animal showed how some people would see the animal as a rabbit, but turned slightly, others would see the separation of the ears as a duck bill. Perception, illusion, trickery! Oh, did I just describe life?! We cannot be prepared for everything. Even though I knew there had to be a catch to what I was seeing, I totally missed it. Even when they turned the rabbit I saw, I still couldn't see the duck until the announcer explained how to look at it. So we absorb information through our senses as best we can, filter it through our mind, and do the best we can with the knowledge we have.
I was catching up on The Biggest Loser last night. There's a contestant on there named David whose first wife died of cancer when they had two young girls. Throughout the season, he has spoken of his deceased wife with love and passion and tears. He is, however, married again to another fabulous woman, though his happiness with her does not mask his pain. But last night, he had a revolution. See, up to this point, he had been doing the best he could with the knowledge he had just getting through. But then he caught my attention with an expression we have all heard before, but for the first time, I saw someone say it who truly just got it. That you have to love yourself before you can truly love someone else. And a whole new world opened up before him as to how restrained he had been in the nine years of his second marriage, not even realizing he was repressing emotions. He thought they had been truly happy, that's not to say they weren't, but as he said he now loved himself he could see a whole new level of love before him. One might say, he could see the rabbit in the duck! Embrace each of your senses in turn; Seeing as being touched by light. Hearing as immersion in an ocean of sound. Tasting as enlightening. Smelling as knowing. Touching as electrifying. Then leave all these behind, Enter the spaciousness of the heart, Intimate with the unknowable. -The Radiance Sutras, Tantra Yoga Teachings For Opening To The Divine In Everyday Life. Louise Hay sent out her most recent newsletter asking, " How would you like your personal world to look?" Sit back, close your eyes and take a moment enjoying answering that. When you open your eyes, I'm simply suggesting you take a closer look at what you see...it's possible you already have the answer right in front of you; you simple did not recognize it.

In Kyle Gray's second book called "Angel Prayers", he talks a lot about gratitude. He first asks you to write down five things you are grateful for. Then, write down five things you will be grateful for when they occur. Remember to write these as though they have already occurred! Then...yes, there's more(!)... every time you say you hate something or dislike something, stop and list off five more things you are grateful for.
