Daniele Quercia has this talk on TedTalks where he asks why a GPS only takes us from point A to point B by considering distance only. And, what if, you could give input into the route you want to take my choosing prettiest route, slowest route, happiest route... . They would be called "Happy Maps" and they would "take into account not only the route you want to take, but how you want to feel along the way."
Today, as you prepare to head out into life (job, errands, dog park, etc!), there are a handful of paths you could take to get there. Why not choose the one that makes you happy?
When your eyes are tired

I like to watch Youtube videos on my phone when I am doing something extremely fun like folding laundry or washing dishes. Yesterday, I stumbled across a TedTalks video from 2014 featuring, at that time, 17-year-old Sam Berns. Sam, who passed away that same year, was a kid with Progeria (aging disease); a disease that made him look like he was a very old man. The title of his very inspirational talk is called, "My Philosophy for a Happy Life".
Sam summed up his philosophy in three points, which follow below. However, I would highly encourage you to watch Sam yourself by going to this link...
... because he is beyond inspirational. And, if you are having a tough moment, tough day, tough week, etc...I think this may offer you some amazing heart-felt perspective.
3 points to Sam's philosophy for a happy life
1. I am okay with what I ultimately cannot do because there is so much I CAN do.
Sam says he doesn't focus on the things he cannot do; he knows what he's missing out on but he chooses to focus on what he can do and what he is passionate about. He advises to make adjustments to "obstacles" so you can move things into the can do category.
"Hopefully, you can accomplish your dreams as well with this outlook."
2. Surround myself with people of high quality that I want to be with like friends and family.
"I hope you appreciate and love your friends and family, acknowledge your mentors and community as very real aspect of your everyday life."
3. Keep moving forward-
Always have something to look forward to..[whether it's your next yoga class or the new flavor of month at Baskin Robbins!]
Slightly paraphrased because my typing skills lack: "it's a forward thinking state of mind... I try hard not to waste energy feeling badly because when I do I get stuck in a paradox where there's no room for any happiness or other emotion. I don't ignore feeling badly; I accept it. I let it in so I can acknowledge it and do what I need to do to move past it."
