I just started reading E squared by Pam Grout. I had seen it on some recommended book list and needed to buy something extra on Amazon to hit free shipping, so I thought, why not?! I am not too far in but, already, I can say it seems directed to those people (skeptics) who do not believe in some type of higher power or those that believe but constantly question. Note that higher power doesn't have to mean God, but it can. It can also mean Light, Divine force, Angels, prana...whatever you refer to as the invisible force that links everyone and everything together. It's that Universal energy that allows the Law of Attraction to keep attracting and the use of positive affirmations to keep affirming! Since I am not a skeptic of a greater force, I figure the book should be an easier read for me!
For the scientific mind, the book offers a series of experiments to provide the experimentor with proof that a greater invisible force does exist and does want you to have what you want and need. I thought it would be interesting to focus today's yoga theme around this experiment and invite any of you to join in! You can leave comments on this page when you are done so we can all compare notes. Very simply, all you need to do is agree to open your mind for 48 hours, setting your doubting mind aside and ask for a sign or blessing verifying that this force does exist. There are a couple of guidelines to follow. First- Declare when the 48 hours starts by writing the date and time down on a piece of paper and saying "Now" aloud. Second- Set your intention. We set intentions before a yoga practice. Reiki is based on intention. You need to state your intention. Try something like, " It is my intention to open my mind for the next 48 hours to receiving some type of sign or blessing or gift from Spirit to prove to me that this force does exist." Ask for the Universe's force to make itself known to you. I want to give you some of the results listed in the book so you aren't so sidetracked looking for the huge bolt of lightning that you miss the small rumble of thunder. -One woman received an unexpected dollar an hour raise and a family member called to offer unexpected help -One woman found a friend had left a surprise gift on her car window -One woman responded a little boy had sat next to her at the park and shared a smile I caution the skeptics that if you put out questioning thoughts about this experiment during your 48 hour period, doubting thoughts, the Law of Attraction is going to kick in and the Universe will focus on your doubts rather than your original intention. I would suggest, if doubt creeps in, that you restate your intention asking for a sign, gift or blessing from the Universe to prove its existence to you. I also forewarn you to look for the small blessings; don't miss them! A call from an old friend, a front parking space, a white feather....your sign may only mean something to you. Keep stating your intention and broaden your attention.

I decided to do my homework right away. I wrote down the date and time on a piece of paper and stated my intention. It was interesting that a conscience "opening up" made me feel lighter and friendlier. I wasn't actively looking for a sign but within the first hour and a half I felt I had received a sign. There's someone in the neighborhood whose exterior I just can't crack. She won't talk to me, despite my efforts over the years. I had basically given up. Then, that afternoon while out walking my dog, she came along with her dog and said, "Can I bring Sadie over so she can meet Jake?" Of course I said yes, and we proceeded to have a nice conversation. I felt like an icy later had been melted away. I have until tomorrow at noon to see if something else happens but I need to remain receptive. Sometimes a challenge for me.

I beleive that being receptive is a challenge for most. Sometimes the biggest blessings are the hardest to see becasue they are right in front of us. And I beleive that this lesson/experiment is fantastic! Sometimes I find it hard to focus my intention becasue I have too much internal clutter.

So I assigned this on Sunday and stated my "Now" while everyone was in svasana. I ran to Jewel and someone was pulling out of the first parking space as I got there. I said a quick thanks to up above but didn't think it was that big of a deal since Jewel wasn't that crowded. Jewel is running a promotion for every $10 you spend, you get a sticker towards free dishes. I always participate in these goofy things! Standing in the checkout line, the woman in front of me gave me her stickers because she didn't want them. And after unloading my car, someone came up and took my cart for me. Again, I looked upward and said thanks. That night, I was up most of the night sleeping next to my daughter on the floor who was in wisdom tooth extraction pain. I was worried about giving her Vicodin because she has a sensitive stomach and how painful it would be to be sick like that on top of mouth surgery. But she was in such pain, I gave it to her and called upon every angel, energy force, spirit guide, etc I could think of...and she didn't get sick. I am grateful, grateful, grateful!

I set my intention Monday morning when the work week started. Guess I was looking for the bolt of lightning because nothing happened that day. Tuesday was our company sponsored health screening, where if test results are within specified ranges, credits of up to $400 are applied to your 2014 health insurance premium. Already feeling a little stressed about the tests, I suddenly realized that I forgot to take my blood pressure medicine that morning. Adding to the anxiety, my appointment was 1 ½ hours delayed due to staffing shortage. Rather than feeling defeated, I decided to open my mind and just hope for the best. I was assigned to a very friendly nurse who took time to chat about kids and grandkids before she started the tests. It provided me with the opportunity to do some deep breathing and remind myself that this was really no big deal. In the end, all test results were within target and I got the full credit. I left with a big smile on my face.

This is an awesome story! Good for you for re-checking in with your expectations; in doing so, you opened yourself up to seeing what may have been missed:)

I set my intention after class on Tuesday when Sandra told us about the Experiment. I had a couple things happen that I thought might be my proof of a higher power but then something happened that really jumped out at me and I knew that was it. I’m a railroad conductor and even though I work on commuter trains, occasionally we are required to do work in the train yard on break which involves moving locomotives around due to mechanical issues. We are blessed to receive an extra days pay regardless of the time it takes to perform the task. Unfortunately the individual who decides which crew will receive this work/pay has not given it to our crew for over a year. As we were coming into Aurora he called me on the radio and told us he wanted us to move engines. The timing of it was just to perfect not to believe that it was indeed our higher power at work.

I love the stories when someone you haven't heard from "suddenly/coincidentally" reappears! What a great validation!

I set my intention Sunday at noon so had until Tuesday at noon. I felt I received a sign on Sunday and therefore was not looking for anything else. However, here is what occurred this morning. I was on my way to Naperville, using a route I routinely travel. And wham, I was pulled over by a cop. I pulled over immediately. Between the time he got out of his car and walked the 25 feet to mine, I said to myself, "I'm not the type of person who EVER gets out of a ticket. So just be nice, say you're sorry, and move on. The policeman said I did not come to a complete stop. It was a $120 fine. So, I just decided to pay it right there and get my license back. He did his thing in his cruiser and came back and asked me, "So, how's your day been going so far?" I said, "Well, it was just fine until this happened. I'm sure I brought it on myself." He said, "I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first?" I said the good news. He told me he was only to give me warning, returned my license and my money. I couldn't believe it. Then I asked him what the bad news was and he said, "There isn't any!" I thanked him and moved on. In the five seconds it took for him to walk to my car, I consciously chose to be humble, nice and apologetic. I think my vibe, spirit, or whatever you choose to call it, determined the outcome. Now if I can just keep it up. :)

Wow! Now that's a story!! Can't ask for a much clearer gift from the Universe than that:)

When I wake I lay there for just a moment thankful for another chance, before I think to myself “I expect a miracle today”!

Sounds like you not only received your "gift" as you were hired by the client who had previously turned you down but that you were gifted a second time (!) in not having to work with an upaguru that sounds like she would have challenged anyone's patience!!! Awesome! I think what you wrote about waking and expecting a miracle is one of the key points to this whole idea of simply telling the Universe what you need and allowing it to respond with what you asked for; too many people are closed off from seeing the little things as miracles. You (everyone) should expect miracles...they are all around us all the time if we would just pay attention!

I set my intention on Monday morning after waking up. On the way to work I was able to hit every green light on RT 59 and then all the ones on RT 30 to I-55, and then no traffic on the bridge under construction. Never happened in the months I have been going that way. Tuesday got a call from an old work associate telling me what was happening at my last job and how I was lucky to have moved on when I did. Even after the 48 hours there are signs, the awesome Thursday night run. Very interesting experiment when you slow down and look at the world around you.
