November Leaves...
The early November leaves still express an artist's palette of reds, burnt umbers, and destined yellows. Destined for what, you may ask. Destined to return peacefully to the Earth's caress. By the end of November, only a few stragglers will be clinging to bare branches. Are they the brave ones? Are they fearful? Do they portray strength in hanging on or a weakness in not being able to let go? Change is imminent and everywhere. This year, I hear much lament about the holidays approaching and how different they will play out this year. I encourage you to celebrate rather than despair; create new traditions to keep your family safe and healthy. Create new stories that will be different from the ones of years past. Be the leaf that lets go of the idea that everyone has to be together on Thanksgiving seated around the same table. As a Death Cafe host, I would rather hear that you all end up at a table together further down the road because that will be the truest of celebrations. So, this month's message is about changing perspective. Changing our perspective on what may feel like a loss but is an opening in disguise. Would you have changed up your holiday plans if you were not faced with the need to? Of course not! So, get creative and find new and different ways to reach out to those you care about. I am certain we can all get together to eat turkey on a day in March as easily as we could on November 25. Don't attach to what you contrive to be the meaning of that day...the meaning is in what you determine it should be, and I bet, with perspective engaged, that sounds something more like gratitude, peace, and health. Love you all:) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am holding my next virtual Death Cafe meeting on Monday November 9 at 6pm CST. While most of us cannot wait for 2020 to be over, I am certain there are some things that we can find to be grateful for as we get ready for the feast. We have discussed many crystals that are associated with love, production or productivity. There are also a select few that imbue the user with a greater sense of gratitude like Rose Quartz, Citrine, Tiger Eye, Blue Apatite and Pink Sapphire to name a few. These stones can help you focus your thoughts toward the things in your life for which you want to express gratitude. While we have explored many of these in the past, we are examining their connection to gratitude today. Practicing gratitude increases your inner joy and helps you to feel better physically. You feel more positive, happier, and more alive. You feel more compassion and kindness which also helps you to sleep better. You become a magnet for drawing greater good into your life. The more gratitude you feel and express, the more you can increase your abundance---whatever that abundance means be it health, happiness, love etc. Clear Quartz is a stone that amplifies every kind of energy. When you fill it with thoughts of kindness and gratitude, it will magnetize these energies into your life which will radiate right back to you. Rose Quartz is a stone that will help increase the flow of kindness and thankfulness through you. It is said to promote empathy, compassion and gratitude. It is believed to inspire you to relish the beauty in your life as it attracts even more love to you. Citrine inspires gratitude by helping you attract wealth, success, and abundance into your life. It is said to transmute negative energies into positive. It is believed to guard and protect you from hurt and heartache. Tiger Eye is known as a balancing stone. It is a good one to use to balance your own energy or that of someone else. When you are balanced you appreciate the good things in your life and can appreciate them and be grateful. Blue Apatite leads to greater compassion and helps induce openness and social ease, encouraging a more extroverted nature. It helps one to be at ease, lessening irritability, apathy or anger and bringing about a sense of gratefulness. Pink Sapphire brings peace and compassion for others and eliminates all negative emotions from the past and help to live life with joy and happiness. Pink Sapphire is a symbol of love and acceptance that helps the wearer to forget and forgive others and promotes feelings of gratitude. While these are just short snippets of the qualities of these stones, it can give you a starting point for your gratitude practice. Use them in meditation or simply carry them around with you. These crystals will make a great new addition to your Thanksgiving table as part of your centerpiece or placed at every seat. This is a good way to add to the gratitude of the day.
