A bunch of us yogi's decided to head out to iFly, the new indoor skydiving venue. We took flight in stylish suits, held aloft in the air by the element of wind and a nice guy named Brandon who kept us in place! I had missed the part on the website about wearing shoes that tied so I was worried my shoes would be sucked off by the immense fan underneath. If the fan could hold me off the ground, surely my shoes would be stuck to the top of the tube. So I pulled my pant legs down around the bottom of my heels to hold the shoes in place.
It is gravity that pulls us downward, grounding us, allowing us to feel connected to the vibration of the earth. When we let go and take flight, the sense of weightlessness is indescribable, really. And it isn't that you are actually weightless. It feels that way because there isn't as much force pulling on you from the ground. So, just imagine, what it would feel like to let go of your troubles?
Imagine that your stresses are like gravity, forcing you down, down, down until the pressure becomes unbearable.See yourself giving yourself permission to loosen the knot that ties your troubles to you and, as your worries heavily drop to the ground, no longer bound to your shoulders, begin to float up...free, lighthearted, cheerful.
“You wanna fly, you got to give up the s--- that weighs you down.”― Toni Morrison, Song of Solomon
AllowBy Danna Faulds
There is no controlling life.
Try corralling a lightning bolt, containing a tornado.
Dam a stream and it will create a new channel.
Resist, and the tide will sweep you off your feet.
Allow, and grace will carry you to higher ground.
The only safety lies in letting it all in -
the wild and the weak -
fear, fantasies, failures, and success.
When loss rips off the doors of the heart
or sadness veils your vision with despair,
practice becomes simply bearing the truth.
In the choice to let go of your known way of being,
the whole world is revealed to your new eyes.
Imagine for a moment you are formless. If you are formless, you can become anything you want to. Your shape can change with your thoughts and nothing holds you back. Guess what? Nothing does hold you back. That which you think holds you back is called illusion.
